Ellison is an unincorporated area located almost midway up the Okanagan Valley. This community is well-known for its rural acreages, agricultural activities and a lot of neighborhoods surrounding the scenic community. It got its name 1 December 1955 and was named after a farmer, Price Ellison. Price was a wheat grower and stock raiser who settled in the region in 1876, and at a point owned more than 70% of the property in the region. In 1912, Ellison Post Office was opened but was closed in May 1920 due to some unknown reasons.
