Ellison is an unincorporated area located almost midway up the Okanagan Valley. This community is well-known for its rural acreages, agricultural activities and a lot of neighborhoods surrounding the scenic community. It got its name 1 December 1955 and was named after a farmer, Price Ellison. Price was a wheat grower and stock raiser who settled in the region in 1876, and at a point owned more than 70% of the property in the region. In 1912, Ellison Post Office was opened but was closed in May 1920 due to some unknown reasons.


Over the years, this community has developed in real estate and has become a paradise point for homeowners. The geography of the area is characterized by pine forest savannahs and arid grassland, showcasing the beautiful landscape of the area.
