Peachland

Peachland is occupied by around 5000 inhabitants. It is a district municipal and sits on the west side of the famous Okanagan Lake in British Columbia. This area was founded by John More Robinson in 1899. However, the area has been occupied by the Okanagan people long before John founded the place. Some of the closest towns and cities to this community are Kelowna, Penticton, and Summerland. It takes just about 20 minutes to drive to Summerland and about 30 minutes to the city of Kelowna. The region is located on a steep sidehill, making it a perfect area for lake views right from the comfort of your home. Just across the lake from Peachland is Rattlesnake Island, which serves as home to a mystic creature known as Ogopogo. There is a lot of history to learn about the Okanagan Valley and the people that live in the area. Driving from Peachland to Vancouver should take about 4-5 hours (370 km).

Climate

The climate of the community is similar to what you get in Kelowna and other neighboring communities in the Valley. Whether you are a retiree or have a family and are looking for a nice location to buy a home, moving here would be a great decision to make. The community is growing every day and it is known to organize different events throughout the year to entertain its residents. There are several industries in the area and you can invest in real estate. Because of the lake that cuts across the region, many beaches and picnic areas are sighted in the region. Most people in Canada and other parts of the world travel to the Okanagan Valley just to experience the lifestyle in the region. A lot of wildlife for sightseeing, museums and parks, and other sporting activities to keep you entertained all year round.

Agriculture

Agriculture is common in the area and different fruits are being produced by the local farmers. For this reason, it is quite common to come across vineyards and wineries in the area. If you are a wine lover, there are a lot of wineries to visit in the area. Whether you care for local wines or exotic wines, you will get them in the region. Hainle Vineyards, the first ice wine maker in the whole of North America operates its organic winery and cookery school in the community. Due to the industries in the area, commercial activities are booming, making it easier to shop for groceries and other family needs. There are also nice restaurants to hang out with family and friends. Whether you enjoy the nightlife or are just looking for a peaceful and quiet place to live, Peachland has what it takes to accommodate you and your family. Peachland is home to the legendary lake monster Ogopogo and also home to the annual Peachland World of Wheels Car Show.

If you care to delight yourself with a great meal in a waterfront environment, there are lakefront restaurants you can visit for great meals and drinks. If you enjoy adventure, the ZipZone Adventure Park is a place to soar high above the Deep Creek gorge and is considered one of the highest zip lines in Canada and the world at large. You can also take a four-wheel tour on an ATV with Okanagan ATV Tours.

Schools

As parents, if you are worried about the school your kids would attend if you buy a home in Peachland, there are good schools for your child’s educational needs. Peachland Elementary School serves about 400 students in grades K-6. This school is part of Central Okanagan Public Schools, District 23. The school is located just off of Highway 97 behind the Peachland Village Mall at 5486 Clements Crescent. For middle school and secondary school, most of the schools are located in West Kelowna, which is just 20 minutes from Peachland. The University of British Columbia Okanagan Campus and the Okanagan College are all situated in the city of Kelowna.
