This community is one of the neighborhoods of Kelowna City, located in the Okanagan region of the province of British Columbia. The community sits at the northeast edge of the city and is surrounded by other neighborhoods such as Black Mountain, Dilworth, Ellison, Belgo, Southeast Kelowna, Toovey Heights, and Central City. Rutland belongs to the Yale Land District of the Osoyoos Division.
With a population of almost 35, 000, this community tends to be the largest neighborhood in Kelowna, with a median age of 39.2. This community used to be an unincorporated town before it was joined with Kelowna City in 1973. The community got its name from an old settler, John Rutland.
